Push brooms are available in fine, medium, coarse, and extra-coarse. The scale is directly proportional to the size of dirt and the strength of the broom's fibres.
Fine sweeping: For sweeping dust and dirt on smooth indoor surfaces such as polished hardwood and vinyl. Fine fibres are flagged on the ends to increase softness and dust attraction when the broom glides across smooth hard indoor surfaces.
Medium sweeping: For indoors and outdoors on less smooth surfaces such as terrazzo, sealed or unsealed concrete. Medium fibres are used when a multi-purpose neutral sweeping action is required. When used outdoors, the broom works best on even surfaces with smaller debris.
Coarse sweeping: For heavier outdoor dirt and debris on uneven surfaces such as asphalt and concrete. These brooms offer a good compromise between surface drag and the ability to sweep larger sized material.
X-coarse sweeping: For outdoors on rough, uneven surfaces such as sweeping and pushing debris on streets or using in a landscaping application. These brooms have the most surface drag so they are harder to push, but move the largest size and amount of material possible.
